Bosma Is A Wanker

The title, I think, should pretty much sum up what I think of him. Brian is such a wanker...such a hypocrite. I finally decided to post after seeing his little interview with WISH-TV 8. If I'm not mistaken, the ever eloquent Brian said something to the effect of: "I'll stand by everyone's right to speak their mind; and, uh, these folks have the right to speak their mind [sic] tonight, as well. Uh, but, uh, we're going to have to agree to disagree on this particular issue; and we have the right to our opinions also."

First, it seemed that news footage from different news stations was lacking just a bit for a public protest directed at the Speaker of the House - especially considering the news stations we heard from prior to the protest, confirming the time of the action and saying they would be there. The only news station to cover the action with any depth, WISH-TV, also had the only interview with our side. Maybe I'm ignorant, but that seems a bit odd. If Bosma says that we have the right to speak our minds, why would we be getting reports, from several individuals, telling us that Bosma tried to have the police stop our protest, but when they refused - because we "have the right" to speak our minds - both Bosma and the Rathskeller began calling up local news stations and asking them not to cover the action? Brian must have misspoke...what he really meant to say, evidently, was: "I'll stand by everyone's right to speak their mind, if they agree with me; and, uh, these folks have the right to speak their minds tonight, as well...as long as nobody gets to hear what they are saying."

Second, what in the hell is he talking about? "Uh, but, uh we're going to have to agree to disagree on this particular issue." What issue is he talking about? I don't reallly understand how anybody, regardless of whether you think two individuals in a loving, committed relationship should be leagally recognized by the State of Indiana, could disagree that it is inappropriate for an individual, who is doing everything they can to oppress a community, to go into the community's neighborhood in an attempt to raise money to further their oppression. Was he expecting the LGBT community to be standing at the Rathskeller with a red carpet and open arms? I'd really like to know what was going through Bosma's head when he had his assistant make the reservations at the largest restaurant along Mass. Ave. Perhaps that in Brian's World, he failed to realize that Mass. Ave. is one of the neighborhoods revitalized largely by individuals within Indy's LGBT community. Perhaps that in Brian's World, he has an amazing sense of denial and feels that he his somehow better than Eric Miller, Micah Clark, Pat Robertson, and Jerry Falwell. Perhaps that in Brian's World, he is completely narcissistic and feels that we meager constituents do not have the right to question the Great and Powerful Bos'.
