Ellison Bakery

Pam's House Blend has a post about Ft. Wayne's Ellison Bakery. They have a long history that they seem pretty proud of - it's too bad they're willing to turn it into a legacy of discrimination and prejudice. They make cakes for ice cream cakes. It seems one of the dairy trade publications (that they run ads in) wrote an editorial about gay marriage and didn't bash the homos. By advocating equality for all, the publication pissed off Ellison Bakery. They've pulled their ads for the year. PHB has contact info for both the bakery and the magazine.

Ellison's website says that the company used to make all of Archway's cookies for Indiana and several surrounding states but now just makes certain types of Archway's cookies nationally. As boycott-ability goes, that makes them an easier target. They seem, however, to be doing more and more of their business as a supplier of cookies and cookie bits for ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, etc., making their business harder to track down.If anyone learns more about what companies they supply cookies to or which types of Archway cookies they supply, speak up!

Advance Indiana also has a good post about the Ellison debacle. You can access it here.

Archway has distanced themselves from Ellison and affirmed that they do not support bigotry, according to an update on Advance Indiana blog. the Newmar RV Corp., their website was outdated, making grandiose claims the company was not entitled to. Apparently, Archway was less than thrilled by Ellison's false claim of continuing to be an Archway baker (long over a year past severance of that relationship) and Ellison's website has been corrected.Way to go, Gary!
