Filthy Animals

I always find stories like this disturbing. We have a rather small (in my opinion) apartment that Jerame and I share with our daughter, two dogs, and a cat. Our place can get dirty quick - what with pet hair, toys, empty cups and glasses, and dust in general. We also have a lot of plants, so dry leaves will fall to the carpet. So I can sympathize that having pets and children makes for a dirty house... But, you know, there comes a time when you pick up the toys, grab a vacuum cleaner and whip out the Clorox Cleanup. At least every other month a story comes out like this - I just don't get it. "Hoarding" or "Collecting" animals is a psychological disorder, but I just don't understand how you can't see that your house is filthy and animals are sick and dying because of the conditions.
