Shooting fish in a barrel

If you know me at all, you know that I'm a big believer in animal rights. You'd also know that I'm not a gun person. I know, I know - guns don't kill people, people do. But a lot more people kill other people with guns, than, say, rocks.

So today's Indy Star has an article about fenced-deer hunts. That's where you go "hunting" for deer and by gumm, you'll find one. After all, they can't get away... This has to be one of the most despicable acts committed by humans towards the animal world. Locking an animal in a confined space just so you can "hunt" it (and how much hunting is truly involved if it has to stay in an enclosed area?) is truly inhumane. Now, if you want to spray yourself with deer musk and go sit in the woods all day hoping an innocent critter comes your way so you can spray it with lead, that's up to you. But when you know that you suck so bad you have to have your "prey" put in a small area so you're sure to kill something, you're just a loser. When we do that to another human being, its called "criminal confinement" and "murder." Sadly though, Hoosiers just aren't getting it:

The forum, at Fort Harrison State Park, was the last of five such meetings held across the state in June as the department looks at whether to amend rules regarding the practice.

About 200 people signed up to speak, and, judging from applause, about two-thirds of the standing-room-only crowd was in favor of fenced hunting.

I agree with you 100%. I'm not a PETA activist or anything, but this type of "hunting" is LAME! I'm not a hunter either, but I can't imagine Bubba Joe braggin' to his buds that he bagged a 16 point a fenced hunting facility. THEY'D LAUGH AT HIM! Not to mention it seems like it would be a breeding ground for diseases.

This is hunting in the same way that putting a Hot Pocket in the microwave is cooking. Still, given the number of lazy ass people in this state, it doesn't surprise me one bit.
