Brokeback Mountain

I just watched the trailer for Brokeback Mountain - the new cowboy love story featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger. It looks really good. I'd like to see it. (But then again, I'd almost go see Jarhead to see Jake's bare butt dance...)

Fellow blogger Mac at PeskyApostrophe had a good take on it:

Yeah, I could lie and say that I plan to see it because the buzz is good or that it's supposed to be a beautiful movie. The real reason I'm going to see it is because the very idea of Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger making out is hot. Two super hot guys with killer bodies making with the sweet, sweet love? I'm flushed just thinking of it.

Think it's weird that a straight chick would get turned on by two hot guys having at it? It's not any different than a guy thinking it's hot when two pretty chicks get to the smooching. Get over it.

I'm looking forward to Brokeback Mountain making its way to Indy--it seems to be playing elsewhere right now. It's quite a change to see two A-list young, male actors do a gay-themed movie. The sex scenes should be worth the trip to the theater, but I hear the movie itself is quite memorable--there is already talk of it being nominated for an Oscar. I saw Jarhead--there were some hot moments with Jake, but the story line sucked--I left before the end--very disappointing.

The movie is playing in film festivals right now but the public release is December 9th, which coincidentally is the date that the new Landmark Keystone Theatre opens at Keystone at the crossing. I did confirm with them that they will be showing the movie here in Indy, but they did not give me a date.
