Ohio Exodus

On the 4th I helped at the Indiana Equality table at the Bloomington Pride Picnic. It is a lovely event and I recommend it highly. There was little traffic at the table, so we had an INTRAA family reunion; they had the next table over.

While listening to the music, I met a charming couple who stopped by the table to get information and sign up for more. They had recently moved to Indiana from Ohio; they could not continue to abide in a state that refuses to recognize that they are equal citizens. So they told the members of the progressive coalitions they had supported over the years: "We supported all your causes, but when our lives were on the line, you chose to be silent. Goodbye." They are most welcome in Indiana; I sincerely hope that we will not let them down.

They are most certainly welcome here! While the Indiana GLBT community may or may not let them down, I have no doubt that our state legislature will.
