As a mere undergrad at Purdue, I must admit that I have some trepedations about posting alongside the phenomenal minds that contribute to Bilerico. But be that as it may, I am truly honored to have been given this opportunity, and suppose I should start by telling you a little bit about myself.
I am a native of the south, Georgia to be specific, and the product of a Presbyterian minister and a former teacher/current writer. I came to Purdue with animal science as my declared major, changed it to Secondary Education - English, and have now settled into the tiny community that is Women's Studies. Only by sheer luck did I find my voice in subject matter that has shaken me to my core. As Bruce mentioned, I mistakenly stumbled into his class after forgetting my class schedule at home. Fate is alive and well, I suppose. My life has been dramatically altered over the course of the past several months due to a passion I never knew I possessed and the help of my mentors. I now devote most of my energy to reading feminist literature and writing about it. I hope to grow as a writer and as a fighter for women's rights through this medium. So, look for my posts and let me know what you think!
