fiesta_vbs.jpgRemember my post about Vernon Robinson and his outrageous ads?

Remember the ad about homosexuals and immigrants? "If Brad Miller had his way, America would be one big fiesta for illegal aliens and homosexuals" with the mariachi music?

Mexico City's assembly on Thursday voted for the first time in the country's history to legally recognize gay civil unions, a measure that will provide gay couples with numerous social benefits and require them to fulfill responsibilities similar to those of married couples.

...The bill, which does not approve gay marriage, per se, will grant gay couples inheritance and spousal rights, among other social benefits. It allows gay couples to voluntarily register their union with civil authorities. Heterosexual couples who are not already legally married can also be registered under the new law.

I was in Mexico City when this was passed. I saw a huge march in support of it in Zona Rosa, but I also saw macho men cringe and groan when they showed gay men kissing on the news.
