Keep your apology (if that even was one)...

Though I've seen it on several sites, check this out if you already haven't...It's Pittsburgh Steeler, Joey Porter, calling Cleveland Brown Kellen Winslow a "fag."

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette had a commentary about the incident, which you can read here...I liked that a journalist from my hometown stood up to say "that's not ok."

I wonder though, will Porter be forgiven for his half-assed apology way sooner than Michael Richards or Mel Gibson...and is that OK?

I think not.

Towleroad has his apology here.

Yeah, it's not even a real apology - just "Well, I grew up using it..." And Michael Richards grew up using the n-word too, but that doesn't make it okay.

What's interesting to me is that the NHL, NBA and MLB have all handed out fines for insults and name-calling lately. The NFL though? Not a peep nor a fine in sight.

Oh, he got a 10K fine...

Cry a freakin' river. Porter can talk all he wants, because he backs it up. Winslow, not so much. Winslow is what Porter called him, and it's common sense that Porter did not use the words fag in the homosexual way. The word is basically like calling someone a jackass. Get used to it people, stop being so damned politically correct.
