Former NBA player Tim Hardaway isn't holding anything back when it comes to bigotry and hate. In a radio interview with a Miami radio station, Hardaway - a Heat guard - was asked about his views on gays and lesbians in sports after former NBA player John Amaechi came out.
His comments?
"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States. First of all, I wouldn't want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would really distance myself from him because, uh, I don't think that is right. I don't think he should be in the locker room while we are in the locker room. But stuff like that is going on and there's a lot of other people I hear that are like that and still in the closet and don't want to come out of the closet, but you know I just leave that alone."It just kills me when folks who have historically been discriminated against turn around and discriminate themselves. What a moron. Here's hoping he never has to go to a hairstylist or restaurant again. Maybe the stylist or server will hate bigots. Side of spit? Mistakenly buzz cut an upside down triangle on the back of his head?

He has now said it was a mistake. It was all just a slip of the tongue, I guess. In actuality, he meant to express his appreciation of our community, but chose his words poorly.
Wow - how did I miss such a heartfelt apology? *laughs*
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now, don't you?A "mistake", eh? Well, is Mr. Hardaway going into alcohol rehab any time soon? Is he pursuing counseling? Maybe he and Isaiah Washington could get a discount by joining the same therapy group?
