We've made some cosmetic changes around the old site lately. We gave the old girl a face lift and moved some stuff around. A few bells and whistles later, we think we're about done with bilerico5.3 This should hold us until we implement the new template and look (bilerico 6.0!). We've got the bones in place for the upgrade now...

So whattaya think? I've had a few e-mails about the changes, but consider this your chance to get your bitch out. Text too small? Too big? Something too scrunched up and hard to read? Got a problem with the font? Colors? Anything?

Or do you like the changes? Maybe you've got other site concerns that you always wanted to get off your chest but were too darn shy and polite to do it.

Well, now's your chance - let 'er rip. Tell us what you like. Tell us what you don't like.

The floor is yours.

I like it. And I've always loved the colors, particularly the green. That sort of sage green is one of my favorite colors.

Yeah, text seemed small at first, but I've adjusted. Colors are great. I think you do a swell job with the place, keep up the good work!

I like the javascript lightbox image thing (I peeked at the code to see that it was called lightbox--for non geeks, it's that cool thing the photos do when you click on them to enlarge).

Also, I noticed you went from a sans-serif font to serif, then back to sans-serif. Good call, I think the sans-serif verdana font you are using now looks very nice.

I've emailed Bil and Jerame about technical issues, and they have been prompt and responsive. Thanks to both of you.

I have just one (possibly naive) question: When people rate a post from 1 to 5, and let's say, if the post is a "5", does that just mean the readers like the post, or they thought it was important, or they agreed with it, or they thought it was appropriate for this blog, or they thought the cartoon was really funny? What, exactly, does Bilerico expect us to rate when we provide this feedback?

(I'll bet that different readers will vote "5" for different reasons --- but I'm not sure that even this is a problem. Maybe just "1 = bad" and "5 = good" is all the ambiguous feedback anyone expects?)

I was surprised by the larger font.... I even went to my "Text Size" tool in MS-IE to make sure I hadn't enlarged the font size inadvertantly. I like the larger font size for the body of posts and comments. I'm a little put off by the large font on the header and footer information (that is:: Filed under: - Posted by: - and - Get More Bilerico: - Discus Bilerico: - Permalink - digg this! - Stumble It! - Email this • Fark It • Add to • Share on Facebook). They detract from the body of the post and should probably be decreased in font size by one step.

Allen, The rating system was Jerame's idea and I don't think it was really talked about too much. So, I've used it as 1 for "I hated it" and 5 for "I loved it" with the rest falling where appropriate. Don't over think it. :)

Lynn, the footer text didn't change size. All of the permalink, Digg This, etc text have always stayed that size. I keep thinking that the header text looks larger than the footer text though - but they're not; we measured!

"Don't over-think it," you said. Okay, that's a deal ... but something else keeps bugging me: How many angels can dance per pixel?
