NY Times' editorial on Spitzer's marriage plans

Earlier today I linked to yesterday's NY Times article on Governor Elliot Spitzer's plans to introduce a bill to recognize same-sex marriage in that state. Today's Times doubts his sincerity:

But if he is going to make a real difference, rather than simply checking off a box to fulfill a campaign promise, he will have to fight for the law vigorously. [...]

Mr. Spitzer did not make gay marriage a priority in his first 100 days in office, and he did not mention it in his State of the State address or, more recently, when he laid out his agenda for the remainder of the legislative session.

Well, if Spitzer isn't really up for the full fight, then that's one really big matzo ball to put out there.
