While we're already talking about addictions, how about caffiene? Does anyone need coffee, Mountain Dew, Red Bull, tea, or a diet pill to start the day? To get through the day?

I am caffeine addicted, damn it! I get lethargic and get headaches if I try to withdraw. My poison of choice is Coca-Cola, which is the worst possible one for me not because of the caffeine but because of the phosphoric acid, which can make FMS symptoms worse. It is true, for me at least, that we crave most what we least should imbibe. I'm in the process of switching to iced tea, another Southern thing -- freshly brewed extra-stiff Luzianne mixed with fresh limeade. Southern house wine, as they say -- good even with grits and Bill & Bob's bacon in the morning.

One cup of coffee in the morning. Iced tea mostly through the day as the drink of choice. Pop occasionally - most of the time root beer though since it's decaf.

I quit caffeine about a year ago, only drinking caffienated Diet Coke when dining out. Evidently caffeene exacerbates symptoms associated with IBS. But as a drawback caffeine also aids with ADD symptoms. Unfortunately I have both... :)

I switched to caffeine-free diet sodas and water and haven't missed a beat. That is if I can remember where I left my keys.

Um. Yes. Coffee. Mostly decaf lately, since the caffeine's been bothering me lately. That's the real cruelty of getting older -- my body can't handle poison the way it used to...

LOL. I am in Oracle training all week. I have started off each morning with a glass of 1/2 oj 1/2 diet mountain dew! I'm still falling asleep :)

But yes, caffeine and comfort foods are my addictions of choice. I have tried to cut back on the caffeine - Diet A&W root beer is an excellent alternative to diet coke.

comfort foods are an entirely different matter. If I lose those, I will probably resort to retail therapy!
