If you've been reading the blog for very long, you know I have a fascination with Japanese culture - and especially anime. One of my absolute favorites is Bleach - a show that still runs currently on Japanese TV but is now being syndicated in America on Adult Swim. I own most of the manga for the series. My AIM buddy icon is Bleach's main character Ichigo. Shoot, fellow blogger the Midgetqueen just brought me a present from the Chicago anime convention - Kon, the stuffed animal you'll see in this video. (Thanks Leah! I love him!)

There have been several instances in Bleach that are very gay and left Jerame and I with a "Did that just happen?" moment. (Yes, I've turned Jerame on to Bleach! Watch a few episodes and you'll be hooked too!) So when I found this YouTube video that featured the Bleach characters and the song "Gay Bar," I knew I was onto something good. They've turned the show into yaoi! Now that's a way to make it better! *grins*

You can click here to see a short clip from the show and information on when it airs in America.

Amusing video. I watched most of Bleach (the first ~60 episodes) in 2005. Fun shounen anime.

You have no idea how stunned I am to hear that you watch it, though, Bil.

I started with the manga originally. We downloaded the anime with subtitles years ago, but watching it in English is so much fun.

Who's your favorite character? I even have the original ending theme song on my iPod. What else do you like, Eric?

My favorite anime is Monster, which is a psychological thriller/drama set in Germany (1995 - 1997, though the timeline goes from ~1940 - 1997; the rest is told through exposition and flashbacks). From one review:

"Monster, oh, Monster. The show that steals lives, souls...time -- precious, precious time, valuable time. But you know what? That's all right. Because the things you have given me in return are so much greater. Who needs life and soul when you can watch Monster? Nobody, that's who."

It's fantastic. Great story, great characters. My favorite character from Monster is Johan Liebert.

As for Bleach, my favorite character is Aizen. I have a thing for villains, I s'pose. =)
