I'm moving this up before I start to work on this over the weekend.

I'm putting together a year-end list of the top LGBTQ stories.

The ENDA split, Larry Craig's escapades, civil unions in New Jersey, Ann Coulter's "faggot" comment, hate crimes legislation....

Let me know in the comments what you thought was important this year. Keep it in 2007 and in the US.

The national launch of the Bilerico Project? *grins*

I have to say, from an "inside the community" perspective, the ENDA debacle (and let's tack hate crimes to that, like a cherry on top) takes the cake.

Jake Gyllenhaal's asking me to marry him. Oh, wait that hasn't happened yet. Maybe in 2008. (Crossing my fingers and praying to every god imaginable.)

How about the first marriage of a same-sex couple in Iowa?

The myriad of Republican gay sex scandals?

Civil unions in New Hampshire?

Non-discrimination law in Iowa?

Mr. Sulu's coming out?

The fight for Transgender rights comes to mind as a big story. Also this is semi related the right for pagan soliders to have the Pentagram on there headstones. Many in the pagan community are also bi and gay and lesbian and Tans and have served in the military.

Alex: Before I respond, is a TPB contributor's turning 69 count as a "top LGBTQ story"?

(And if you summarily snicker and shake your head "No", then you also have to cross out Michael Crawford's "Jake Gyllenhaal's asking me to marry him." Let's keep the playing field equal here.)

I hope you make this a funny Top 10.

I do too.....personally I don't think I've encountered 10 "funny tops", but maybe Alex runs in different circles.

Jodi Foster coming out . . . although it's not really news.

Dumbeldore is gay.
