While the Democratic candidates for president claim to be for equal rights for LGBT Americans, Chris Dodd is the only one who took a bold step in bringing his own family in to the discussion. When I heard Dodd speak at YearlyKos (Now NetrootsNation), I was quite impressed as he spoke of the possibility that his two young daughters might grow up to be lesbians. I've never heard a parent make it so personal -- and so comfortably.
OK, it's true, like the others, Dodd has no concrete plan to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell, but he's a whole hell of a lot better than the others on our issues.
For whatever reasons make politics work, Dodd will not be heading to the White House. However wouldn't it be nice to have a pro-choice Democrat leading the Senate?
