It's a Woman Thang

Thanks go to Michael for sending me the link to this one. I really enjoyed sneaking a peek at the office.

With over 850,000 hits on Youtube, Bubbles and Cheesecake are garnering a lot of attention for their feminist message. But what the hell are they talking about?

In the comments section, a lot of viewers seem to think the song is about women giving up their sexuality, which I think is a legit interpretation. But I think they're talking about the way women second-guess themselves and give up their voice. If you click over to Bubbles and Cheesecake's website, you can get a line by line explanation of the lyrics. So I guess I'm right.

The video has unleashed a firestorm of hateful, misogynistic "get back in the kitchen" type of comments. But let's stop and think for a minute about where these comments are coming from. The majority of Youtube's users are young, white males. Is anyone shocked that they don't get it?

I say, right on, mama. Speak your mind and stand up for yourself. If the Spice Girls could preach Girl Power and make it popular, you should heed the message.

Happy Friday and Happy Solstice ya'll!

That video rocked. Good find, Michael and great post by Serena.

I'm going to have that ditty stuck in my head for the next week. LOL
