Surging Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said that he believes gay marriage is a threat to civilization. Yep, he believes that two men or two women who want to live together, build a life together in sickness and in health, share mortgage payments, argue over who’s turn it is to do the dishes are strong enough to bring down the entirety of human civilization.

And this is the person who is rising in the polls in the Republican primary election?.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who has enjoyed a surge in recent Republican primary polls, says in an interview with GQ that gay marriage is a threat to civilization itself and civil unions are not an acceptable alternative. "You have to have a basic family structure. There’s never been a civilization that has rewritten what marriage and family means and survived," said Huckabee, who has pulled into the lead in some Iowa polls and second place nationally.

On a related note, Huckabee seems to think God has signed up as a member of his campaign team:

Call your travel agent, and book those trips to Norway, Sweden, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands now! Obviously, they are all about to fall into the sea!

(Come to think of it, better visit Netherlands first ... I could make a nauseating "dike" joke about the Netherlands, but I'll pass.)

Don't forget Canada ... and be sure to fly back thru Boston before they shut the entire city down.

Chunks of buildings in Boston continue to fall down as gays refuse to cease their assault on marriage and family.

My office looks out onto downtown Boston. Older, more traditional buildings that represent the making of America deteriorate first.

Experts refute the notion that the age of the buildings is more determinate in this process than homosexual sin.

Gay marriage is a threat to civilization, or at least civilization as certain types (*cough* *cough* Mike Huckabee *cough* *cough*) like to portray it. The idea that women are the property of fathers until they're passed onto their husbands, the idea that sex is bad and only should be done to produce children, the idea that what works for some people can and does work for everyone in little assembly line families - none of that can live on in gay marriage.

Of course, it's all been on the decline for decades, but these people still need to cling to it. Gay marriage is a threat to Huck's idea of "civilization", and thank god it is.

I'm just wondering... What job do you give God when he volunteers for your campaign? Door knocker? I'll bet that would go over well. Campaign manager? You know his strategy would win! Fundraiser? I hear he has a very experienced staff who can raise millions in his name.

So many options.

I'll bet he's a "consultant."

Mike Huckabee is a threat to women that don't want to be raped and murdered.

This story needs to get more attention than it is receiving.

RE Comment #4: Here, Bil, I think I found your answer --- your first guess was right-on:

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will eat with him, and he with me." --- Revelation 3:20

What the author of Revelation forgot to mention was that Jesus would have with him a supply of donation envelopes pre-addressed to the Republican National Committee.
