Tammy Baldwin says "Don't be a pain-y, impeach Dick Cheney"

The House's only lesbian member, Tammy Baldwin, along with Robert Wexler and Luis Gutierrez, has called for hearings to impeach Cheney:

Holding hearings would put the evidence on the table, and the evidence – not politics – should determine the outcome. Even if the hearings do not lead to removal from office, putting these grievous abuses on the record is important for the sake of history. For an Administration that has consistently skirted the constitution and asserted that it is above the law, it is imperative for Congress to make clear that we do not accept this dangerous precedent. Our Founding Fathers provided Congress the power of impeachment for just this reason, and we must now at least consider using it.

While I don't have high hopes for seeing Cheney booted out of office, but they're right, these hearings need to happen.

And now we can say that 100% of House lesbians are calling to impeach Cheney. I'm sure there's a lesbian, bush, and dick joke in there somewhere.

Ah, those lesbians. Always wanting to chop the dick away from the bush.

Like that?

But yes, I will be very happy if there are actually some form of impeachment hearings.

My question here is the same one I've always had: Without also impeaching Bush, what exactly is the point to impeaching Cheney?

I mean, does anyone really think that because Karl Rove officially resigned from his position at the White House that Bush doesn't take his calls anymore, that he's no longer in a position to advise Bush?

It just makes no sense to me to impeach the guy who's main official duty (now that there's a Dem majority in the Senate) is to sit around and wait for Bush to get sick or die, when the guy really doing the damage is left completely untouched.

Since no one's going to be kicked out of office either way, and since impeaching Bush would take a whole lot more time and capital, I'm thinking they thought that they could at least get one of the two.

And he is at the center of a lot of scandals, like the illegal wiretapping and outing of Valerie Plame. The point is to investigate, question, and document, not to kick people out of office.

Yeah, I doubt that they could finish the investigation fast enough to actually impeach Bush before his term ended now... Cheney either, for that matter. But by picking Cheney, they can probably get further faster while looking like they're not directly attacking Bush. And that will expose more and more of the Bush regime's illicit activities. Someone has to pick the scab though - that's what they're doing.

As much as the lets impeach you fill in the blank gang wants this. Its way to late to even start after all thats all the Democrates need is impeachment of the president or the VP during an election year lets be real people! It aint never gonna happen as it stands now the Democrates have a good chance of picking up moderate to liberal Republican votes yes we do still have a liberal wing of the party. To go after either one and its bye bye white house hopes for the Democrates. And maybe even the loss of some districts they barely won last time.

Cheney has to be impeached so he can’t replace Bush when we toss him in the garbage. When they're both gone then we have to can Nancy Pelosi, the ENDA rapist. But then we get Robert Byrd, so we have to impeach him and then his successor Condoleezza Rice, who everyone desperately hopes is NOT a lesbian. Now moving right along we'll have to impeach warlord Robert Gates, followed by gay basher and chief inquisitor Michael Mukasey and etc. OMG! Just forget it.

Lets just wait until the Democrats get in. Wheever wins will have to extend the war and the economy will likely bottom out and then we can just impeach them.
