Israeli lawmaker: Homosexual activity causes earthquakes

Every time I think the homophobes here have cornered the mark on complete batsh*ttery, here comes something out of left field from the international set. Let's examine the wisdom of Knesset Member Shlomo Benizri.

During a special Knesset session on Israel's preparedness for the possibility of another earthquake hitting the region, the Shas member said "the Gemara refers to earthquakes as disasters, but you are searching only for the practical solutions how to prevent and repair.

"But I no of another way to prevent earthquakes; the Gemara mentions a number of causes of earthquakes, one of which is homosexuality, which the Knesset legitimizes," Benizri said.

...Mike Hammel, chairman of the Israeli Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Association commented on Benizri's remarks saying "it is sad that a religious MK in Israel doesn't think earthquakes are God-made.

"On the other hand, I suppose we should be flattered he attributes us with such magical powers," he added.

But back to our stateside religious hypocrites. Did anyone else notice the stunning silence a few weeks ago after series of horrific tornadoes killed innocent people and wiped homes off the face of the earth in the bible belt? The crickets were chirping in the land of Pat Robertson and the rest of the "blame the homos" crowd.

Ironically, when Katrina wreaked havoc and caused misery in New Orleans, the site of decadence and homosexualism, Dear Leader never said anything like this in public, as he did to families left homeless in Tennessee...

You know, life sometimes is, uh, you know, is unfair, and you don't get to play the hand that you wanted to play. But, the question is, when you get dealt the hand, how do you play it?

Actually, maybe that's a bad example, since Bush promised to restore the Gulf Coast and help the people down there; we all know how that turned out.

But that wasn't the fault of the man upstairs.

That is not an Earthquake, that is a medium orgasm.
They don't know what a real Earthquake is.

Take care

I don't know about homosexual activity in general, but Lesbian Lovemaking definitely causes earthquakes. We proved it a number of times this week.

For heaven's sake, Pam. It seems so obvious to me that everyone his is confusing cause and effect. Truth of the matter is that EARTHQAKES CAUSE HOMOSEXUALITY!!!! Look no further than along the San Andreas Fault for conclusively supporting data.

Whether or not tornados produce lesbianism in the Midwest probably needs more careful analysis.

Please, let's cut out the bragging, okay?

(I love this post.)

Lonely in Atlanta

Earthquakes, schmearthquakes. Tornadoes, schmornadoes. Gay sex, schmay schmex. Knesset, schmnesset.

OK, that's all I've got. I do know that Israel has plenty of hot bois though.

I would have to ask.
Are articles like this really worth
the time we give them?

You know these guys don't even believe
this stuff. They just say it for the effect.

We all know Earthquakes are caused by
the battle waging on in middle Earth.

Damned Hobbits.

Take care

I plan to center my next quake on a certain ranch house in Crawford, Texas....

I figured the earthquakes were caused by the Kosher Double Deluxe Bean Burrito special down at Taco Bellberg's. Oi Vay!

Someone please give Mr. Benizri a flashlight so he can try and find his head which has been lost up his a$$.

This certainly does sound like a Pat Robertson quote. I mean we get blamed for terrorists who crash jet liners into office buldings and all the other bad things that happen in the world, why not earthquakes. I am certain the Iraq war is our fault too in some way.

What's interesting is to check in with some actual scholars of the Talmud. As a person who grew up as an Orthodox Jew, I suspected that Mr. Benizri was interpreting to support his skewed world view, and lo and behold - I was right. Here's the real deal:
