State Representative David Orentlicher will kick off his campaign for the primary in the 7th Congressional District of Indiana today at noon with an announcement at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Park (Kennedy/King Park) alongside Dr. Derek King, the nephew of the civil rights leader.

"I am looking forward to campaigning in every neighborhood and reaching out to Hoosiers across the 7th district. As a doctor and teacher, I look forward to sharing my ideas about how to make health care and education work for the residents of Marion County. I also look forward to tackling the challenges facing our country with the same leadership I have shown as a state legislator in responding to the property tax crisis and other challenges facing our state," Orentlicher said.

This will be the beginning of a series of announcements as David Orentlicher introduces his vision to the voters of the 7th Congressional District.

David Orentlicher lives on the North side of Indianapolis with wife Judy and children Cy (7) and Shayna (4), and he has represented the 86th district since 2002.

Indy has an opportunity to elect one of the best educated (JD and MD degrees from Harvard) and most progressive Representatives in this election. I only hope they can look beyond last names.
