No matter how large the Bilerico Project gets, I'm always stunned that thousands of you stop by daily to take a peek at Bilerico and see what's going on. Our success has been phenomenal and we just keep growing each and every month. Since we launched last July, we've served up just shy of one million pages to readers. One million. Wow.
When I started the blog in September of 2004 with a quote from Margaret Meade, I never imagined that it would take me as far as it has. This week I got the biggest honor any blogger could ask for - I was invited to join the Huffington Post as a contributor. More than likely, I'll use the forum to post about non-gay issues like Sesame Street's ties to unfair labor practices or politics in general.
Still, the site has grown to take on a life of its own. It isn't just "my" blog anymore; it's our blog - all 50+ contributors and the thousands of readers. We all have a stake in Bilerico Project and more and more people are noticing us. Just this week, we showed up on CNN as a background shot (no URL given and no mention of us dammit - just the screenshot!). We also got a shout-out from Laura Flanders on her new show GRIT-TV. (Video after the jump.)
So, from the bottom of my heart, thanks for the success. Thanks for challenging us, complimenting us and sharing in our trials and tribulations. But most of all, thanks for becoming part of the Project.
