Tonight, we welcome media pundit, political activist, and business leader Hilary Rosen. Ms. Rosen is a former Chair of the Recording Industry of America (RIAA), and a former Executive Board member and former interim Executive Director of the Human Rights Campaign (in-between Cheryl Jacques and Joe Solmonese), and current member of the board of the Human Rights Campaign Fund. She is also one of the founders of OurChart, a popular lesbian-oriented community website.

We'll talk with Hilary Rosen about the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, the Human Rights Campaign, the state of the movement, and a lot more! Plus, as always, news, commentary, and fun with Becky, Mike, and Rye!

hah. I still haven't forgiven Hillary Rosen for the evil she committed as chair of the RIAA. Figures she works for HRC now.

Ms. Rosen once interviewed me for a position...which I did not get. Of course, I did casually mention that Joe Solomnese should die. She stated that she loved him, but to her credit she also stated that she could understand why I did not. Actually, I liked her honesty...something we won't ever get from Solomnese...she came across as a very open and real human being. Pity that I didn't get the job - I think I would have enjoyed working for her.

Having been chair of RIAA was very bad. Her past proximity to Lizzie Birch is worse yet, although I have heard that Birch is no longer as transphobic as she was when she was running HRC. Working for HRC is simply priceless in its madness. I'll listen to the podcast when it gets up on line, if for no other reason that we need to know our enemies.

I agree with you, Jeri. I found Hilary Rosen to be open, honest, and refreshingly candid about these issues. Of course, I don't agree with her on many things, but I found myself agreeing with her more than I expected and I suspect the reverse may have been true as well.

I prepared for this interview expecting a debate that would find us on completely opposite sides of the issues, but found that while that was true some of the time, it was far from the case throughout the interview.

One especially interesting moment during the interview was her response when I asked her what really happened when Joe Solmonese spoke at Southern Comfort. Be sure to check it out, I think you'll hear at least a few surprises. I certainly did.

I'm hoping to have the pod up soon, hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Be sure to check the show website (, I-Tunes (RSS:, or my podcast homepage ( to get the file as soon as it's available.
