St. Gregory of Nyssa is one of the most crazy and beautiful churches I've ever been in. They're a progressive, very queer-friendly Episcopal church, but all of the art inside is very Russian and Greek Orthodox-influenced -- extremely ornate, and all the saints have the exaggerated puppy-dog eyes and angular faces that you usually see in Christian Orthodox iconography.
The walls are covered in a giant painting of a bunch of different saints from different time periods, all joining hands and dancing together under a beautiful sky. My absolute favorite part: Jesus is black, and is dancing in a giant turquoise-and-blue pussy. Well, okay, maybe not a pussy per se, but it's a giant turquoise-and-blue oval that's extremely yonic. Fucking awesome.
