James Dobson's upset because an on whole pretty-pro-Christian speech said that you can't just point to a page in the Bible, interpret it literally, and make a law.... Him calling Obama a fruitcake and Daily Show after the jump.

Dobson, head of Focus on the Family organization, slammed Obama for a 2006 speech in which the Illinois senator said religious people don't have a monopoly on morality and should couch their arguments in universal, rather than religious terms.

"That is a fruitcake interpretation of the Constitution," Dobson said. "What he's trying to say here is unless everybody agrees, we have no right to fight for what we believe."

In that same 2006 speech, Obama pointed out that certain passages of the Bible, if interpreted literally, could allow parents to stone their children and require that the Defense Department be abolished.

"He's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view, his own confused theology," Dobson said.

Obama's clearly not saying that we all have to agree before people can advocate something, but truth and reality aren't where James Dobson's strengths are. He's a serial liar who is so stuck in portraying liberals as secular and anti-Christian that he doesn't know how to change his tune to the fact that some are learning how to respond in Christian terms.

Or maybe he's just mad that Obama's stepping on his territory. That last paragraph in the blockquote should probably be "He's deliberately distorting the traditional understanding of the Bible to fit his own world view?! That's my shtick!"

What a great speech!

I wish our politicians would make speeches like that.

Ugh. Dobson is such a fruitcake.

Daddy D is also a clueless theocratic idiot.
