Larry Craig toe-tapping for Obama?

Some recent Democratic campaign buttons in Idaho show an unlikely pair: Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican Sen. Larry Craig. PH2008072801750.jpgThe mismatched pair's images appear together under Obama's campaign slogan: "Change We Can Believe In."

Was Don Sherfick right about Larry Craig as Vice-President- just for the wrong party?

Nope. The button maker, Tigereye Design in Ohio, got the wrong Larry. The face they meant to put on the button was that of Idaho Senate Democratic candidate Larry LaRocco. At least they got the name right, I guess...

The button is quickly becoming a collector's item as folks scramble to get a piece of the hilarious political memorabilia.

Craig, who is not seeking re-election following his arrest in a Minnesota airport restroom sex sting, has not commented as of yet. The LaRocco Campaign, however, said they found the mistake hilarious, just like everyone else did.

The funniest part might just be the button company's response, as reported in the Washington Post:

"First, let us apologize to the Larry LaRocco campaign for the dark cloud we have placed over their efforts," says Justin Hemminger, the political coordinator for the button maker.

However, Hemminger says Tigereye cannot be blamed. Here is the explanation he provided: "When our designer sat down to make this button, he positioned his mouse pointer over a photo of Larry LaRocco. This particular designer uses a fairly wide pointer arrow, which may have been in contact with a photo of Larry Craig."

A wide pointer arrow, eh? Is that like a computer's mouse's equivalent of a wide stance?

And isn't a "wide pointer arrow" always a good excuse to get you out of trouble...

I think the designer should have to show us how thick his pointer arrow is... :)

And Don hasn't commented yet? What's up with that?!

OK, guys.....you know how I feel about dealing with hot-button topics during the summer doldrums....but since you've invoked me by name I can't ignore it, I guess.

My take: The figure on the right of Obama is NOT really Larry Craig, but in reality Evan Bayh, who yesterday revealed that he is a shape-shifter just waiting to assume his true form per Bil's recent prediction of his being named Obama's running mate soon.

Browning hasn't yet told me whether or not I can publicly ask Bilerico readers for money to cover the Bayh-Craig debate. If it's at the new (open just before the election) Indianapolis air terminal, I won't need much. The Minneapolis airport is another story entirely. (We've heard THAT one before, haven't we?) (:

Yea! I was waiting for you, Don!

And you didn't disappoint. LOL!
