After all of the crass bullshit we've seen surrounding the McCain campaign lately, I needed to see this. When the chips are down and there's a religious bigot outside their rally, there's one group the Republicans can count on.

Muslims for McCain will step up to the bat. Isn't it sad that the original John "Maverick" McCain supporters cheered his stance against the religious right and ignorant knee-jerk bigotry and yet stand idly by until someone else takes the lead? The McCain supporters did step forward eventually - and for that I honor them. It's nice to see them again.

Admit it Bil. You made this up. That guy in the red shirt is really Jerame in a scary Halloween outfit.

There's about as much chance of there being Muslims for McCain as there is Gays for McCain.

Oh, wait a minute. I just remembered that LCR is supporting the gay-hating McCain/Palin ticket.

That's where I saw it too, Monica. I knew I had to post it.

And the world is bigger than you imagined.

As a lover of all life, I was shocked, saddened, and filled with digust by the article below. What sick person would kill a bear cub and then drapp an Obama sign over its dead body? Are we to interpret this as an omen about Obama's future? I have been worried this entire presidential race that some misguided person may take it upon himself/herself to do physical violence to Obama. I pray that we as a nation may get through this election without any more criminal violence. It is bad enough for one defenseless life to be taken in an act of hatred.

Dead bear covered with Obama signs found at school

CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Police at Western Carolina University and wildlife officials were investigating the discovery early Monday of a dead bear cub draped with a pair of Barack Obama campaign signs.

Leila Tvedt, associate vice chancellor for public relations, said Monday night that maintenance workers found the 75-pound bear cub shot to death in front of the school's administration building at the entrance to campus. The Obama yard signs were stapled together and placed over the bear's head, Tvedt said.

The bear had been shot in the head, Tvedt said.

"Western Carolina University deplores the inappropriate behavior that has led to this troubling incident," Tvedt said. "We cannot speculate on the motives of the people involved nor who those people might be. Campus police are cooperating fully with authorities to investigate this matter."

University police called in state Wildlife Resources officials to remove the body and help in the investigation.

Bear season is under way in western North Carolina.

I've been corresponding with a GLBT Muslim from Pakistan, especially after McCain's alleged tacit sponsorship of , I realized that it was more important than ever to reach out across boundaries to people of all faiths genders, etc to show that WE can work together; I founded a group called The Power of WE, the idea being that WE have several needs in common: A need for love, to be free from suffering, and a desire to be happy.

This is my conversation with Muhammad, a filmmaker:

I am very curious about Pakistan. I wrote a report of the subject after being entranced by Benzair Bhutto and the whole situation there. Her biography could have been a chance to be self-aggrandizing; however, she writes in simple prose, freely admits her life advantages, and also many of her flaws. I do not believe she allowed herself to be killed accidentally. She was affluent enough to save her own ass, so to speak.

However, I am familiar with Pakistan's history, and the split of Pakistan, and the irony of the only other country in the world based on freedom to practice a religion is so oppressed (your country's history shares more of Israel that one might suppose--they too hare hurting, yet Palestinian women are helped by Israeli woman to help get their children across checkpoints.).

You have a vantage point I have not. I would like to hear your story as would others. We have a group called The Power of We. It's different than any group out there--participation is important. The questions we ask are hard; however, it is a difficult time. Surely, you know people who have suffered much. I have lived a privileged life in comparison, although it has been money-poor. I have amazing friends and I'm impressed at how people reach out--if one makes an attempt.

I want to reach out and show people that we are all connected. Perhaps, step by step, we can break down borders. I also saw you are from Karachi.

The Power of WE
This group is to demonstrate that we can all support each other on central issues that affect us all. Regardless of our personal belief systems, this group is founded on the idea that we can, if only ...

Yes I live in Karachi, and I must say that you are working towards a very noble cause... but do you think this really works?

People will keep taking us the "Most dangerous place to be on earth" while in all honestly we are not... You think we are living in a war zone? Of course we are not... All I want to do is to make documentaries on "normal" people... on the life we live beyond this facade of "terrorism" that we have been bestowed upon.

But you think it can happen? But we can try... for sure.

And I think it would be better for you to come and wee what it takes to be a Pakistani... Pakistan so does not exist in books only or should i say that books don't do justice to what "WE" are... give it some thought.

Does reaching out work? Can we cross borders, is there away around the hate we are being fed by simply going around it, enclosing it in a net, and squishing it away? I think so. So, if anyone knows a filmmaker or a film making company, or simply wants to reach out across boundaries in the name of common interests. If our governments can't do it, perhaps we can teach them how. After all, it is our money their wasting.

Um. Does anyone know where I can get that bumper sticker. I love it- in a pro-Obama way.

That's great that they stood up to those people, but it's not just one or two bad apples who are pushing those rumors. It's mccain's entire base.
