Updated at the end of the post.

Maybe emails like this will put a stop to the ridiculous "post racial world" talk that is going on after the election of Obama...

CCarter.gifFlorida Republican State Committeewoman Carol Carter of Hillsborough County has taken a cue from such GOP luminaries as former Chairman David Storck (who sent out racially charged emails before the November elections), the Florida McCain Campaign (who compared Obama to Hitler and Mussolini), and Commissioner Brain Blair (who attacked African Americans, Muslims, and gays all in one swoop).

The GOP committeewoman thought it would be hilarious to make some jokes about the large number of black people going to the inauguration and how it proves they should have been able to get themselves out of New Orleans for Katrina.

You read that right. A real laugh fest, huh...

Don't think it's a knee slapper? Carter thinks you need to lighten up. Read the horrendous emails after the jump...

I'm confused

How can 2,000,000 blacks get into Washington, DC in 1 day in sub zero temps when 200,000 couldn't get out of New Orleans in 85 degree temps with four days notice?

Carol Carter

Ugh. But it gets better. She decided she should "apologize"... for the readers not having a sense of humor about a racist joke about one the worst natural disaster and government failing in our history.

I have been asked to send this apology for my earlier email. I am sorry that it was received in a negative manner. I do hope that we are going to be allowed to keep our sense of humor.

As you can now see, it went to very few people. I did add Todd Marks in this apology, as he is in the mix now. I am also sorry to learn that some of these persons are not real team players. There really was no reason for this to go beyond those that I emailed ( 8 people). This was not an email blast as I do not have that capability.

You have to love the "get a funny bone" argument for racism, made even stronger for by the "I only meant to be a raging, heartless bigot to a few people" excuse.

Way to stay classy, Carol Carter.

Word has just come out that Carol Carter has resigned from her position on the executive committee.

According to the Miami Herald:

"I appreciate her many notable contributions to our party, but I have no tolerance for this type of action, regardless of the circumstances or intent,'' said GOP Chairman Jim Greer. "It is unfortunate that these types of emails, spread by just a few, distract others and dilute the message of the vast majority of Republicans throughout Florida and across the nation who are working hard to build and grow our party."

That was some quick damage control...

Yeah, I received this same email earlier this week from my brother and his son.

I was sick.

So I sent back an email--as I do with all these stupid things--and told him it was racist.

The nephew defended it, unbelievably, while my brother didn't respond.

I had to write about it on my blog, too. (Mo Rage)

The idea that these were the same people, in the same situation was beyond ignorant. We have to keep saying the same thing--we won't accept racism in any form any longer. We should be beyond that.

the part that kills me, though, is where she says she's "sorry to learn that some of these persons are not real team players", as though, if they were, they would have just kept it to themselves.

See? That way, it would have just been kept funny, between all us crackers and this wouldn't have gotten out of hand.

Right Carol?

Good report....love the ending.

My GOD, do they just grow on trees down there like oranges?

They grow on trees like oranges picked by Anita Bryant herself. Yee-haw!

I'm a Democrat. Its nice to see Republicans step up to the plate and speak out against racism. Its refreshing to know that not all Republicans are racist and most Blacks have thought them to be for years.
