The term “hamster wheel” has been stuck in my mind all day.
Just one question. How does one get off the crazy thing?

Gradually stop running...close your eyes and relax...slowly edge toward the open end of the device while keeping your eyes closed...once you are able to get a single foot on the floor position your body to have the device behind you...open your eyes and walk away from the device and to the nearest location where you can consume cooked animal products wrapped in plastic :)
I know it is going to be hard and there may be a period of withdrawal where you will need to take up smoking (various things) and drinking to power your way through this horrible addiction. The results will be worth it, because adequately treated in this latter manner, you will have neither the wind or the balance to return to your addiction.
As a last resort when you feel helplessly drawn back to "the device" wear ill fitting shoes with an assortment of gravel in them.
