After working on a photography project for the past year, my friend Matt Gold is on the verge of getting a book deal based on it. Matt isn't a professional photographer and has no training in film or design. Since he doesn't have a real camera, he takes photos with his cell phone.

Of course, this means that the pictures tend to be small slivers of the original subject since you have to be so close to get any detail, but the tiny segments become beautiful photos. Matt gave me permission to pick a few of his snaps he's sent me over text message or e-mail and post them here for Projectors.

Extra Bonus Fun: Leave a title for each snapshot in the comments section. Get creative and let's see what we can come up with. Maybe he'll use some of the titles in his book!

These are gorgeous -- I especially like the first several, thanks for sharing!

Lovely, quite lovely. Thanks. And let us know when the book comes out.

I don't have any captions, but they are amazing pictures. I think my favorite is the one with the M&Ms. I admire the sense of reflected imagery in that one.

It's funny that the cell phone brings macro photography, a style I loved and spent a fortune to achieve 25 or more years ago during 35mm, back into focus (forgive the pun).
These are lovely.
