The Big Gay Sketch Show put out their first animated short yesterday. They call it, "How the Mormon Stole Everything," but I rather like "The Grinch Stole Marriage!" *grins*

And then gays complain that they're victims of bigotry?

This is one of the most ignorant videos I've come across in regards to Mormons.

It shows how cowardly gays are, because their pick for a target is contrived. They're not messing with Catholics, who actually started the movement for Prop 8 and enticed the Mormon leaders into action. They're not targeting the other minorities that voted for Prop 8 as well. They instead pick the unpopular and misunderstood LDS church, since they know they can't win the fight against anybody else.

Though it was amusing in spots, I can't help but think it's rather spiteful and probably more than a little bigoted. I can't control what others do, but I can say that sinking to the level of fighting bigotry with bigotry is hardly a success for equality. What about those queer Mormons who would stand with us, or who do stand with us? Sure, let's talk about how to connect with faith communities since we know that in them we can face the most difficult challenges, but stereotyping and scapegoating (in the modern, not traditional sense) is hardly connecting and sharing.
