Achtung, Baby! Gay German Penguins Hatch a Chick

"Gay" penguins have been given a shot at parenthood in the United States, in China, and perhaps in other countries too - but I don't pretend to be an authority on the subject, so I don't know for sure. What I do know is that you can add Germany to that list.

Two adult males named Z and Vielpunkt living in a zoo in Bremerhaven were recently given an egg that was rejected by its biological parents. Well, the gay duo hatched the egg, and are raising the chick - now four weeks old - as its own.

According to BBC News:

"Z and Vielpunkt, both males, gladly accepted their 'Easter gift' and got straight down to raising it," said a zoo statement.

"Since the chick arrived, they have been behaving just as you would expect a heterosexual couple to do. The two happy fathers spend their days attentively protecting, caring for and feeding their adopted offspring."

Not to be outdone by those gay-penguin-friendly zoos in the U.S. and China, this German facility also houses four other "homosexual" penguins. There must be something in water.

What's the world coming to? Next thing you know, the penguins will be squabbling over whether the zoological society should official recognize their paired parental status, with some being satisfied with the term "civil penguin union" (or maybe "domestic penguin partnership") with others insisting that only "full same gendered penguin marriage" will be acceptable. And indeed, one need only look at those Discovery Channel movies showing Antarctic masses of egg-protecting male penguins huddled together to confirm that humans have no monopoly on "separate is not equal". Being separate there is also pretty cold and dead. Don't mistaken that slow waddling for incrementalism, though.

HAHAHAHAHA. Full equality for penguins NOW!

LMAO, Don.

Don't forget the lesbian swans, too!

This is so sick. It's not NATURAL! IT'S NOT! IT'S NOT!

You know, between the gay penguins, the lesbian swans, the bisexual bonobos, and various gender-switching sea life, it's a wonder any procreation happens on this planet.

The next thing you know, the right will be sponsoring government programs for ex-gay animal therapy. Or abstinence-only wildlife education. Or something.
