The Advocate published their list of "Top Political Blogs" today and the magazine spotlights Bilerico Project in the top slot. I have to admit, their description of our little corner of the queer web is one of the best I've seen.
The Bilerico Project: To be fair, Bilerico is a little bit of everything, but as the famous expression of the feminist movement goes, the personal is political. Bilerico deploys citizen journalists and experts across the country to report back to its loyal readers each day on events and the hot topics of the day. The big-name celebrities may lend their voices to The Huffington Post, but the insightful gays blog for Bilerico.
My elevator phrase for the site is, "We're the opinion pages for all the news sites. We may not break a lot of news, but we shape it." I love the opinion pages of a newspaper; the comics, the puzzles, the columnists of all persuasions and editorials. While the news remains supreme, the opinion pages are what makes the news relevant - and interesting.
Other honored blogs include Joe.My.God., Politico, BlogActive, and the Daily Beast. Congrats to our fellow honorees and thanks to all the Projectors for stopping by daily to see what we're talking about.
