Farrah Fawcett died of anal cancer this morning. Michael Jackson passed away after a heart attack this afternoon. Can you imagine the late night talk show jokes tonight?

Rumors of Jeff Goldblum and Harrison Ford's deaths seem to be overblown, however. (Hat tip to Projector Phil for instant messaging with the hoax info after I tweeted asking for confirmation.)

that was a terrible thing to say, what does it matter what she died of - not funny and shame on you.

The Day the Seventies Died.

I had that very poster of Farrah on the wall in my bedroom when I was a kid. I wanted to look like her.

It seems that these kinds of things always happen in threes. Perhaps Ed McMahon's death a few days back completes this particular entertainment world triad. Maybe not.

Meanwhile we are distracted from the real issues of the world like oh...Korea, Iraq, Iran, not even the president can get TV time today.

We are such fools to invest in popular culture and sports (sorry Patricia).

I had that poster on my wall as a kid too, but once I got into Joan Jett it came down to make way for wall-to-wall Joan (I'm not kidding, about eight different posters of Joan adorned my walls after I saw her play live for the first time).

I always thought Farrah was hot (obviously), but I never wanted to look like her. I wanted to look like Jaclyn Smith but with the amazing high-heeled legs (and ass) and wardrobe of Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke).
