Spanish gay billboards

There are more pro-gay billboards going up, this time in the Milwaukee area. And some are in Spanish.

They set up a website (with a Spanish version) where you can check all the billboards out.

According to the Census Bureau, in 2008 there were 6.8% of people in the Milwaukee metro area who spoke Spanish as their primary language. In California, on the other hand, the percentage of people who speak Spanish as their primary language is 28.1%. And yet...

This is 2009, and English-only campaigns won't work anymore in many parts of the US (Maine is .9% Spanish-speaking, and Washington is 7.3%). If we're going to reach outside our communities, then we've got to be speaking other people's languages, whether that be the language of religion, the language of African American culture, or the Spanish language itself.

Amen. It's about time our community stepped outside of the box. Damn shame it has to happen in a place with a much smaller Hispanic population than California - who really needed the Hispanic community's vote last year.
