The 31 GLBT History Month Icons, living or dead, are selected for their achievements in their field of endeavor, their status as a national hero, or their significant contribution to GLBT civil rights.

Today's Icon is Christine Quinn. Christine Quinn is the first woman and the first openly gay candidate elected speaker of the New York City Council. She is the city's second most powerful elected official.
