It looks like an awkward pose for a romantic encounter. Is she hypnotizing him while trying encoil the poor guy, like some kind of snake-woman?

So I had to check. It turns out that Ann Corio was a huge burlesque star who turned to Hollywood when the mayor of NYC shut down "the bawdy houses." She made several low-budget (as you might guess from the lobby card) films.

Famous for her "deciduous kinesthetics", the movie studio may have wanted to show as much of Ann's leg as they dared while hinting at more.

That's what I thought automatically too, Lynn. They were trying to show as much leg as possible. Thanks for the history on it. I think we're both right.

Haha. Why did we put on heels while hiking through the swamp? Because we have class.
