My favorite curmudgeon today begins his seventh year as JoeMyGod. Like their coffee, many people will not start the day without him. He perpetually scowls at my camera but I ignore that. You may click here for one of the few photos he didn't mind. It was taken four years ago. My husband is the guy next to him. Seems like five minutes!

7 years. That's a DAMN good amount of time spent blogging.

I really loved Joe's longer story-like posts from the beginning. It's what made me start reading him. His way with words in those personal anecdotes is magical. I've stopped reading it as much now that it's mostly short quips and news updates, but it's obviously not hurt his traffic! Still, I wish he'd give us new personal essays; I really miss those.

He really is a gifted writer. I sent "Fake Morning View" to just about everyone I know. His memories of friends gone by just make me ache. Maybe he'll publish a book of memoirs now that his blog has turned to politics and news.

Fr Tony, you misled us! That photo of Joe still ahows him scowling at the camera. (erm... or does it?)

I like JoeMyGod, its a fun mix. Often he has information I wouldn't see otherwise, and he tosses in some witty remark which brings a smile. I often marvel that he does it as a one person effort.
