I just got back from an exhausting vacation, and just now an even more exhausting first day back at work after spring break, so it's shirtless boys. I have no qualms about posting pics since it's clear to me that you can both be intellectual and enjoy physical beauty, a feat many of history's big intellectuals, especially gay intellectuals, have accomplished. There's nothing particularly smart or deep about pretending not to enjoy looking at the human form. In fact, there's an entire political movement in the US based on both a denial of physical pleasure and anti-intellectualism, a movement whose ideas have seeped into the mainstream to pathologize the former and demonize the latter.
Meet Imran Khan, Bollywood star who won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut in 2008 for his role in Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. This is the clip for Kabhi Kabhi Aditi, a song from that film. See more of him after the jump.
That last pic has got his production company thinking they have a gay icon on their hands, according to the Times of India:
A source from the production house said, "For three days now, we have been getting weird calls from various people who seem to have been so impressed by Imran's shirtless pictures that they insist he's the next gay icon. Some of them said he's turning out to be the sex symbol they've been waiting for. We've got so many requests for the same picture, with his autograph. We are trying to do something about it, but we're waiting for Karan [Johar, who owns the production company working on Imran Khan's next film] to come back to Mumbai first."
Meanwhile, Imran himself seems unaware of the commotion. "I haven't received any such calls yet so I don't know if I am the next gay icon. But if I can capture the male audience as well as the female audience, it's all the better for me," he said.
