On the final day of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program Crisis Summit, AIDS activists from several states took to the Hill and visited with Congressional staffers to urge their Members of Congress to take action and save ADAP.

I had the honor to be the lead on our first meeting where almost 20 activists converged on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office and without a scheduled appointment met with a staffmember who listened to stories of from activists living in Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, New York, Ohio and other states. Each shared their fear and anxiety with the reality that each may loose access to their lifesaving medications.

One lady from Tampa shared that she was once was living in her car and at the time was losing a battle with life challenges. She credited the AIDS Drug Assistance Program with helping her access the critical medications she needed to stabalize her physical and mental health. Since getting on ADAP and getting her life back together, she has now earned two master degrees!
