Check out this ad that the Family Research Council is running in Vegas against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Of course they use us as the boogeyman.

God, guns, and gays. You really can't teach an old dog new tricks, can you?

The ad itself doesn't concern me so much as the placement. The fact that they're targeting Reid tells me that the FRC - and by extent, the (capital 'O') Opposition - is well aware that Reid is the key to whether we vote on NDAA in September or in the lame duck. Def. worth monitoring.

"Our military is for protection, not politics"

-- which is why we're making this political ad, gosh durn it!

I am a US Army (Jul 66 - Jul 68) and Vietnam Veteran (Feb 15 67 - Feb 13 68).

While the purpose of the US Military is to defend our shores and the freedoms of US citizens living in the 50 US States and its Territories, the Military hasn't defended the rights/freedoms of us folks since World War II ended in 1945.

I support the troops; but, I didn't support Bush's Iraq revenge war and still don't support the Afghanistan Conflict (we are not at war against a country there so it's not really a war).

I was a senior Clerk-Typist for JAG officers in South Vietnam. In my opinion, the clause in the Uniform Code of Military Justice regarding "Sodomy" should be declared unconstitutional and also so should the DADT rule.

The US Military is the only Federal institution where it is still illegal to be openly gay.

OMG that's so stupid. "Our military is for protection, not politics." Yeah, that's why the military didn't touch the government in Iraq. Or why they don't send a general/political representative to Congress to testify for more money. Or why the military's campaigns are always and only about protecting people... from Saddam Hussein marching down DC and taking over the US.

Please. Defense and military is one of the most politicized branches of government, used for political cover every three seconds by any member of Congress or president. Does FRC really think the people of Las Vegas are that stupid?
