Right after the cloture vote failed on the repeal of DADT yesterday, blogger Joe Jervis reported getting a comment that said, "All faggots must die" from an IP address traceable to Senator Saxby Chambliss' Atlanta office. saxbychambliss.jpgSenator Chambliss confirmed to the Atlanta Journal Constitution that the comment came from his office and that they were starting an internal investigation and issued the following statement:

"We have seen the allegations and are moving quickly to understand the facts. This office has not and will not tolerate any activity of the sort alleged," Chambliss spokeswoman Bronwyn Lance Chester said. "Once we have ascertained whether these claims are true, we will take the appropriate steps."

We'll see what the investigation brings, but I wonder if anyone has pointed out the blindingly obvious connection between filibustering a bill that would remove discrimination from our laws and the obvious logical extension to anti-gay slurs and death threats. After all, if we're not worthy of basic job protections, surely no one would miss us if we were all killed off. It's the perfect solution! Maybe the GOP can add that to their plank and save themselves the trouble of filibustering.

We are on this here in Georgia. The story has grown legs. Georgia Equality is on this, the AJC (straight newspaper) is investigating and GAVoice (LGBT newspaper is also reporting on this at:

Also, both of our bigot Senators voted against the Hate Crimes bill. I see this as karma coming back to bite them on their dumb asses.

From Senator Chambliss's photo, he seems like he is capable of such a deed.

Well, Saxby is an Episcopalian - based on recent developments with that denomination there's a 60% chance he could have.

(40% of Episcopalians support LGBT equality)
