The Family Research Council's Tony Perkins made an appearance on Chris Matthew's Hardball on MSNBC last night to debate the Southern Poverty Law Center's Mark Potok. The SPLC recently designated the FRC as an anti-gay hate group; SPLC is known for tracking and monitoring extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Nation.

I noticed that Tony, once again, cited the bogus "American College of Pediatricians" which isn't a medical group at all but rather a bunch of religious nut-jobs and so-called "ex-gays" who berate local schools and school boards for having lgbt-friendly attitudes.

Whenever this lying liar is going to be on the air we, as a community, need to ferret him out and make sure that the interviewers are fully aware of his tricks so that he can be called on his BS the minute it spills out of his lying mouth.

I have to agree. Unfortunately Potok didn't seem to know how to handle the typical lies that Perkins spews and he wasn't as personable to the camera as Perkins can be.

Personally, I think people who debate Perkins on camera need to try and take a less serious tone (yes, I know how hard that is). But let's face it, we all know that Perkins is a joke and we really need to show that by treating him like one on camera.

More importantly, before debating him, they should study past on camera debates and interviews that Perkins has done, because you know he has a script he automatically turns to when he's in trouble.

Finally, we should just call him out when he tries making any claim that a professional organization says they have numerous research that puts homosexuals in a negative light because we all know that NO professional organization would really say that.

That was way too short. Also, Tony Perkins should never have the last word. Like JoyZeeBoy above noted, he's just going to keep pulling these bullshit statistics out of his ass. Also, he was SO WRONG about the "inverted" statistics of military servicemembers' opinions of openly gay service.

Tony Perkins avoided answering the direct question posed to him by Chris Mathews! Mr. Perkins ought to be on "Dancing with Stars" Mr. Potok could have been a bit more prepared and requested a proper answer! He should also have called Perkins out on using the data from "American College of Pediatricians" The last comment("You should spank ....") almost caused Tony Perkins to freak out! Loved the whole exchange!
