Shooting kittens with lasers

It's late on a Friday afternoon and while I should have spent all day researching stories and slaving over the keyboard, I've spent most of the morning lazing around the house and my afternoon hanging out with contributor Jarrod Chlapowski learning more about the history of DADT repeal. (Hey, that counts as research, right?!)

So to make up for it, here's a video of kittens being shot my lasers. If I had more time, I'd tie this into Dan Choi's recent misogynistic comments because that would tie together the military and... Good thing I'm pressed for time, eh?

For those of you with fine sensibilities, those aren't real lasers. The cats have myotonia congenita aka fainting goat syndrome.

I don't care what "condition" the cats have. It's not funny. Who laughs at this kind of stuff?

You gotta get out more, Bil.

Storm troopers. The video was made by renegade jedis, Rick. You passed their test by showing mock outrage at fainting kittens being shot by, well, nothing. :)

I believe one of those cats has since died. And it's your fault, Bil. GOD KILLED A DISABLED KITTEN BECAUSE YOU POSTED THIS.

*I did not laugh at the video, but I did just make myself laugh there. And I feel guilty about that. Not sure if that makes me sick or not.

LOL. Everyone knows that if you look at a cat that's disabled you're going to hell.

Actually, both of the cats have died. The black and white one from respiratory failure, and the tabby from complications with the disease. :( This made me cry.

Read the entry about "Fainting Goats" at Wikipedia, and you will learn that goats with this muscle disorder are bred deliberately because the freezing mechanism causes their muscle to develop larger, producing more goat meat per animal.

It's almost enough to make an animal rights supporter out of me.

As for the poor little disabled kittens --- I didn't have a chance to choose my own genes either, and there but for the grace of God go I.
