"Egypt is free!" the thousands of demonstrators scream in euphoria. The army is in charge of the transition. History in the making!

One commentator said yesterday this peaceful revolution is Bin Laden's worst nightmare. Another today notes that there have been no mention of Israel in connection with the revolution. Reminds me of the old phrase: "The people united will never be defeated!"

Al Jazeera is broadcasting live.

Poor former President Mubarak! He's in his 80's and only has somewhere over a billion dollars of embezzled government money to retire on!

(Nobody knows exactly how much money Mubarak has stashed away for himself. By odd coincidence, Egypt is the second highest receiver of US foreign aid, behind Israel, receiving about $1.5 billion per year, I have read. ...

(... Anyone care to guess where much of Mubarak's purloined largesse came from originally? Could this be our US tax dollars at work? ... But since there's nothing us ordinary folks can do about it, we might as well look on the bright side: maybe it's worth that much lost money just to get rid of him.)
