What's the deal with the recent rash of celebrity implosions? I realize that there's always high drama surrounding these mostly nouveau riche stars and that addiction and mental illness often plays a role, but not since Mel Gibson's infamous racist and anti-Semitic meltdown has a celebrity been so blatantly exposed as an emperor without any clothes.

Christian Dior fashion designer John Galliano - famous for outfitting celebrities and royalty - has been fired from the design house for repeatedly making anti-Semitic statements in Paris bars. Three complaints have been lodged by women who were the target of his rage and two videos have now surfaced clearly showing the intoxicated couturier telling two women at a nearby table, "People like you ought to be dead, your mothers, your forefathers would all be fucking gassed. I love Hitler." In a different outburst, he tells a woman, "Dirty Jew, you should be dead."

Galliano has clearly confused fascism with fashion. Strangely enough, none of the women he's accosted are Jewish.

I wanted to ask this question on Queerty - do you think he would have gotten fired or been as publicly shamed if he had gone on a tirade against Muslims? I don't/

Um, Hitler didn't exactly love drunken, a-hole, gay designers either.
