Glee: Sarah Palin Challenges Kathy Griffin

Now that news has leaked that Kathy Griffin will be playing a teabagger on Glee, Sarah Palin has to make it all about her.

This is what I'd imagine watching one of those bum fight videos would be like. They're both publicity whores. At this point, I'm sick of both of them.

Yeah, KG is washed-up, alright. She's just added two more shows to her week on Broadway, because no one wants to see her. And those Emmy awards were well over a year ago. And she's got a guest role on Glee, which is a show that hardly anyone watches.

Sarah Palin proves once again, that she isn't very bright.

When I saw this, I was immediately reminded of an item that came to me via email this past week. It went something like this:

Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs
(A TRUE Political Fable)

The seven dwarfs always left to go work in the mine early each morning. As always, Snow White stayed home doing her domestic chores. As lunchtime approached she would prepare their lunch and carry it to the mine.

One day as she arrived at the mine with the lunch she saw that there had been a terrible cave-in. Tearfully, and fearing the worst, Snow White began calling out, hoping against hope that the dwarfs had somehow survived.

'Hello!...Hello!' she shouted. 'Can anyone hear me? Hello!'

For a long while, there was no answer. Losing hope, Snow White again shouted, 'Hello! Is anyone down there?'

Just as she was about to give up all hope, she heard a faint voice from deep within the mine, singing ...

....'Vote for Sarah Palin, Vote for Sarah Palin!'

Snow White fell to her knees, crossed herself and prayed, 'Oh, thank you God! At least Dopey is still alive!'

Not all publicity whores are created equal. Kathy actively and vociferously supports our rights, and Palin wants to drag our entire country back to the 1950's with all that implies. I don't think it makes sense to paint them with the same brush.

I love that opening line, Rory.

Thanks, Bil. Kathy would happily plead guilty to being a publicity whore, so, what the hey.

KG is transphobic. I do not like her, she was cute for awhile, but it is pretty clear she just wants attention. And money, of course, but it's not just about the money, she likes the limelight to point of being irritating. It might be that I do not like shallow people.

I know of no evidence that Kathy is transphobic. I do know of evidence that she supports the trans community since she did a benefit for a national trans organization, and did it on national TV.

Kathy went on Larry King a while ago and said some fucked up cissexist shit about Chaz Bono, calling him by female pronouns and comparing him to SNL's Pat. She also didn't know what intersex meant.

Good on her for this benefit, perhaps she has educated herself. What organization was it? I honestly don't know and Google was being unhelpful.

Well, of course I don't condone misgendering Chaz, but you have to remember that outrageous, envelope-pushing anti-PC material is her shtick. She always refers to Ryan Seacrest as "she" as well. So it isn't an issue of being anti-trans; just her stock in trade of being offensive.

She did a fundraiser in Chicago for GenderPAC, which no longer exists. But it was the bees knees in DC when it did. She was filming her reality show at the time, so it showed her doing the event and the people from GenderPAC, and her talking about the organization. It was great publicity for them, and brought amazing awareness of our issue at the time.

BTW, random plug: Chaz Bono will be the keynote speaker at the Gender Odyssey conference in Seattle in August.

Well, that's the problem with the "anti-PC" schtick ... it makes you sound just the same as the bigots if you're not careful. Particularly with trans subjects, where the "comedy" always, always comes down to "trans people are weird and scary!" and nothing more skillful or subtle than that.

That's nice about GenderPAC at least. :)

That's why context is so important. If it's a comedian, and you know what's in her heart and can see the twinkle in her eye, it's just not the same as a politician or a right wing idealogue. But it does get harder if you're talking about a full-out insult comic, which Kathy isn't.

Context is important but it is not telepathy. I've lost count of the amount of times someone who thought they were very trans-supportive (because they support gay rights and it's all the same thing, right? HURRRR) have said fucked up cissexist crap to my face.

Yes Palin, KG is a 50 y/o bully.... What does that make you?! I'm assuming 'bully' is the new word d'jour that's going to be thrown around during the debates....great....

I know, it's "takes one to know one."

Palin was so successful as a governor, she graduated early. What a half-term dumb ass, if she and her family can't take it, keep you trap shut. Poor thing with her snore, snore TV show canceled, I guess running for Prez is the only thing she can do. I can't wait using the term "two time loser", please, oh please run. Oh by the way Kathy Griffin is comedian, I repeat comedian, its her job, quit playing the victim card. I know you think you were so funny on "Jay Leno", come on you sucked, you are no comedian Sarah, please run for Prez.
