Jerame and I cracked up laughing during the episode of Glee where Mr. Schuester whips out a ukelele to accompany the teen singers in a rollicking song. Nothing says high school glee club teacher like a ukelele, right? I mean, tiny stringed instruments are the epitome of "cool."
Matthew Morrison is putting out a solo album now that's he become a household name and he's working that ukelele for all it's worth. He's got a hot new single out now - a duet with Gwyneth Paltrow - that's about as hip and modern as a glee teacher should be. Yes, they're doing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." *sighs* You can listen here if you're able to stand all of the excitement - it even comes with a video with still shots of Morrison strumming that ukelele for all it's worth.
After the jump is video of Mr. Shuester performing what his publicist calls "a rousing rendition of his "Summer Rain" single on Ellen's show. Rousing? With a ukelele again? Watch the clip and tell me that it doesn't remind you of when Clay Aiken released his album and everyone said, "This is the definition of the word 'bland'."
I swear, Matthew Morrison is Tiny Tim and Clay Aiken's love child. Just as boring and trite, but now with extra ukelele! (And just for the record, I do believe this is the most I've ever had to use the word "ukelele" in a Bilerico post. I hold Morrison firmly responsible.)
