Thousands of people attended the parade, which wrapped from Dupont Circle to Thomas Circle in D.C.
The Bilerico Project's Bil Browning rode toward the front of the parade line. He, along with June Crenshaw, Tyrone Hanley, Dr. Theo Hodge, Rev. Jill McCrory, and Rebecca Roose, were being selected as 2011's Capital Pride Heroes for their LGBT work and activism.
A similarly large crowd attended the festival the next day, which featured vendors, food, music, and several musical performances, including a five-song set by Jennifer Holliday.
This year marks Capital Pride's 36th anniversary.
