Rick "Frothy Mix of Lube & Fecal Matter" Santorum has joined the presidential clown car.

The former Pennsylvania senator tossed his hat into the ring Monday with an announcement on "Good Morning America," vowing, "We're in it to win it."

Santorum has long been a darling of the Republican Party's anti-abortion-rights bloc and is a stalwart of causes embraced by social conservatives.
His staunchly conservative positions - particularly against gay marriage - have made him the target of leftist scorn.

While he may find strong support among social conservatives, Santorum faces several hurdles.

Like how his name is now synonymous with a gross byproduct of anal sex? Naw, the article cites the lack "of a major fundraising operation" and that he is "less well known" than his rivals. I hope potential voters Google him to find out more.

Now, Bil, the former Senator can no more help that his last name has alternate meanings than Anthony Weiner can disown that associated with his. The alternate spelling of my own last name has caused me grief since at least high school, and I suspect Browning isn't totally off limits for those who have nothing better to do.

In addition to the obvious concerning Santorum's contempt for anything remotely suggesting equality/dignity for things LGBT, his brand of "cafeteria Catholicism" is especially contemptable. He wraps himself in the mantle of Holy Mother Church when it comes to sexual morality and other "traditional values" items, but when it comes to what the Vatican has consistently said about torture.....excuse me....."enhanced interrogation techniques".........that's a different story.

Yet very few, if any, call him out on that gross inconsistency.

At least we won't have to worry, as some did when JFK was seeking to be the first Roman Catholic American President, that if Rick took the oath of office in January 2013 the next flight to Dulles would contain none other than Ratzinger/Benedict with clothing (including shoes) to stay at the White House for a long while.

The Pope might arrive but Rick simply won't be there. Stalled in the cafeteria line, no doubt.
